You’re interested in starting a business, or you already have, either way – Woohoo!

One of the most important things to focus on while you’re in the beginning stages of figuring out your brand is, well, you. 

As we know, authenticity is a major success point for brands – a.k.a. being unapologetically yourself when it comes to your brand will help it grow. 

Sounds easy enough, right?

Well, it is, once you actually figure out who you are and what you want. That probably sounds a little less easy. 

But, we’re here to help you… with a few tips:

#1 DON’T JUDGE 

First thing’s first, let go of the judgment. We tend to judge ourselves way more than we judge anyone else, and why is that? 

Is it because we can do it in silence? Is it because we don’t feel bad about being mean if it’s just to ourselves in our own head? Well, truth be told — It doesn’t matter why. The only thing that matters is that you stop, like, right now. 

You probably can’t drop all of your bad habits just like that. But, maybe try and drop them like this:

#2 PRACTICE SELF AWARENESS

. Basically, everytime you catch yourself indulging in judging yourself, do something to call yourself out. A great way to do this is by putting a hair tie on your wrist.. Then, everytime you notice that you're being self-critical, switch the hair tie to the other wrist. This small physical motion will make you much more aware of how many negative thoughts you’re having, and it gives you more power to switch the narrative to a positive one when it happens. 

#3 SWITCH THE NARRATIVE 

Switching the narrative might sound difficult, but it’s super doable with re-framing, which is a way to flip the script on yourself. Reframing self-judgment means that if you find yourself thinking you’re ‘weak,’ tell yourself that you’re actually just sensitive and caring. You can turn gullible into trusting, pushy into persistent, or anything that makes you feel unworthy into a perfectly worthy trait — it’s all about the narrative. 

#4 LET IT GO

These things will help you turn your mood around most of the time, but there will always be things you just can’t shake. So, if you can’t change it to work for you, you’re going to have to let it go. And yeah, that’s easier said than done a lot of the time. But, with persistence and awareness bringing you a higher quality mindset, it will get easier and easier to just let things go. 

When you’re confident and grounded in who you are, it becomes second nature to remove things from your life that are inherently negative, because you know you're not inherently bad. 

The main thing is, once you figure out who you are, the rest becomes really easy. 

That pesky old figuring out what you want part – oh, you’ve so got that. If you’re at the point where you know who you are and you feel grounded, then it’s time to start walking forward. 

And if you don’t know what you want to do – that’s okay! All you really need to know is what you want to do next. 

And that’s exciting.
